About the role#
The WAMU Audience Engagement Assistant is a part-time student role that provides hands-on support for audience engagement activities. You will assist with event preparations, member and listener communications, and social media tasks. This role is designed for students with limited experience and includes on-the-job training under the guidance of staff members.
What you'll do#
- Assist with event preparations and day-of logistics for WAMU events, including media partnerships and co-presented programs.
- Respond to routine member and listener inquiries using approved templates and guidance.
- Draft, format, and schedule social media posts while following brand guidelines.
- Support CRM data hygiene through regular cleaning, validation, and record maintenance.
- Compile basic social media metrics and provide general administrative support to the Advancement team.
What you'll need#
- You must be a current American University student with a Federal Work Study (FWS) award.
- An interest in events, audience engagement, communications, or social media.
- Clear, professional communication skills in both written and verbal formats.
- Basic computer skills and a willingness to learn new tools like ticketing platforms or scheduling software.
- Strong attention to detail for tracking lists, logging requests, and handling administrative tasks.
- Reliability and the ability to follow instructions and templates.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Washington, DC.
- The role is hybrid. You will work onsite 2-3 days a week during training, moving to 1 day a week onsite once trained.
- This is a part-time position at 20 hours per week.
- The target term is Fall 2026.
- Pay ranges from $18.40 to $20.00 per hour.
