About the role#
The Marketing and Communication Assistant supports the Kogod School of Business team with tasks that increase the visibility of the school. This part-time position is open to current American University students interested in gaining hands-on experience in marketing, communications, and public relations within an academic setting. You will work 15 hours per week.
What you'll do#
- Develop and edit content for social media, newsletters, and the Kogod website.
- Manage social media accounts by scheduling posts and monitoring analytics.
- Organize and promote events like webinars, workshops, and networking functions.
- Assist with event logistics and setup.
- Research marketing trends and competitor activities.
- Analyze the performance of marketing campaigns.
- Create promotional materials using tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Provide general administrative support, including record-keeping and report preparation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at American University, preferably in Marketing, Communications, or Business Administration.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with social media platforms and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Basic knowledge of graphic design principles.
- Interest in digital marketing and content creation.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A creative, organized, and detail-oriented approach.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Previous experience in marketing or communications is a plus.
