    About the role#

    American University is hiring a Teaching Assistant for the Fall 2026 course Individual Freedom v. Authority (GOVT 105). This is a part-time position requiring three hours of work per week. The role is paid at a rate of $18.40 per hour.

    What you'll do#

    • Lead a weekly one-hour discussion section for students.
    • Support students in your assigned section through office hours or availability.
    • Meet regularly with the course professor to review class progress.
    • Coordinate section topics throughout the semester.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment as a student at American University.
    • Completion of the Individual Freedom v. Authority (GOVT 105) course.
    • A solid understanding of core issues in political philosophy.
    • Majors in Political Science or Philosophy are preferred.
