    About the role#

    This internship offers hands-on experience with train control systems, including dispatching and Positive Train Control. You will collaborate with professionals across Information Technology and Operations Engineering on strategic and operational initiatives. Working under the guidance of experienced Train Control staff, you will participate in technical research projects and gain insight into rail transportation services.

    What you'll do#

    • Create maps and diagrams of train tracks within assigned dispatch territories.
    • Design and develop reporting systems.
    • Compile and analyze data from written sources and interviews.
    • Create documentation for technical processes and best practices.
    • Assist the QA team with testing activities, record keeping, and use case development.
    • Monitor system status and review logs from various applications and interfaces.

    What you'll need#

    • Actively pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
    • At least one year of academic undergraduate studies completed or sophomore status at minimum.
    • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.

    • Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
    • Term: Fall 2026 and Winter 2027.
    • Modality: On-site.
    • Compensation: $18.00 to $35.00 per hour.
    • Benefits: Includes Amtrak rail pass privileges and one PTO day per academic year.
    • Status: Full-time internship.
