About the role#
This internship offers a look into railroad real estate and space planning. You will work alongside the Workplace Planning and Design team to support projects from the initial programming stage through final closeout. The role involves assisting with design and construction services for Amtrak buildings across the country. You will support business managers with daily tasks and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including architects, engineers, and contractors.
What you'll do#
- Assist with design and construction services for nationwide building projects.
- Review, update, and maintain interior design standards.
- Perform in-house AutoCAD design for smaller projects.
- Support space and occupancy planning, furniture installations, and move management.
- Conduct site audits and update real estate space planning floor plans.
- Learn project management tasks such as defining requirements, estimating costs, and managing schedules.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program for Interior Design, Architecture, Facilities Management, or Engineering.
- Completion of at least 2 years of undergraduate study or junior status.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for design development and documentation.
- Interest in workplace strategy, capital planning, and project management.
