About the role#
Auto-Owners Insurance is hiring a Claims Representative Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in either West Des Moines or Cedar Rapids, Iowa. You will work with our team to help individuals and businesses recover after a loss.
What you'll do#
- Investigate claims by gathering facts, determining policy coverage, and evaluating the amount of loss.
- Analyze legal liability and decide on claim outcomes.
- Study insurance policies, endorsements, and forms to build your technical knowledge.
- Manage the resolution of claims, which may include attending arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials.
- Process payments to ensure they are issued accurately and on time.
- Communicate with agents and policyholders through phone, mail, and on-site visits.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a junior or senior in a college degree program, such as Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or Criminal Justice.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments and resolve complex issues.
- High attention to detail and ability to organize and interpret data.
- Authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
