About the role#
This summer internship provides technical support at the Dakota Gasification Company in Beulah, North Dakota. You will work with the electrical, instrumentation, and control equipment teams to help maintain safe and efficient plant operations. The role focuses on reducing production losses through hands-on design, troubleshooting, and maintenance support. You will gain direct experience with cooperative operations while assisting engineering staff with daily project tasks.
What you'll do#
- Develop project scopes, cost estimates, specifications, and schedules.
- Research and create electrical engineering design packages.
- Assess project feasibility and implement electrical, instrument, and control system designs.
- Apply the National Electric Code and other relevant industrial standards.
- Specify new equipment and maintain component standardization.
- Optimize spare parts inventory levels for critical equipment.
- Create as-built documentation for electrical and control systems.
- Provide technical support to the process operations, planning, and maintenance departments.
- Attend and occasionally conduct safety and department meetings.
- Assist with the setup and execution of the annual Family Night event.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a full-time student in an EAC/ABET accredited Electrical Engineering program, having completed your sophomore year, or graduation within the last 12 months.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5.
- A valid driver license.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks like climbing stairs or ladders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Strong analytical, research, and communication skills.
- Submission of your transcript at the time of application is required.
- Previous internship or relevant work experience is preferred.
