About the role#
The Interactive Media and Language Center (iMLC) is looking for a student assistant to support faculty, staff, and students during the Summer I and Summer II sessions. You will help manage the materials, technology, and facilities that support modern language programs at Baylor University. This role requires an outgoing and reliable individual who can work independently and help maintain smooth daily operations.
What you'll do#
- Support language learning and computer-assisted language study for faculty and students.
- Maintain printers, computers, and other technology to ensure everything runs smoothly.
- Create and post flyers, posters, handouts, and digital content to promote department programs.
- Deliver excellent customer service to all visitors at the service desk.
- Assist with general business operations, special projects, and departmental initiatives.
- Prioritize tasks and take initiative on assigned activities.
What you'll need#
- Strong computer skills and a willingness to learn new language-learning technologies.
- An interest in language study or previous foreign language experience.
- Ability to work independently and maintain regular attendance.
- Preference is given to students who have qualified for Federal Work-Study and accepted their financial aid package.
- Preference is given to students majoring or minoring in modern languages, international studies, or area studies, as well as students who speak languages other than English.
Location & details#
- Location: Draper 356, 1420 S. 7th St, Waco, Texas.
- Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM to noon.
- Term: Summer 2026 (Summer I and Summer II).
- Compensation: $8.50 per hour.
- Modality: On-site.
