    About the role#

    As a Counselor Intern at Behavioral Health Group, you will work under the guidance of experienced counselors to help patients identify their strengths and set social, educational, and occupational goals. This role focuses on assisting patients in achieving a drug-free life while you gain experience toward your counseling licensure.

    What you'll do#

    • Conduct group counseling sessions as required.
    • Orient new patients to the operations and procedures of the treatment program.
    • Support new patients with intake and readmission services, including follow-up counseling.
    • Maintain complete and organized patient records.
    • Provide crisis intervention and support services.
    • Collaborate with case management for appropriate patient referrals.

    What you'll need#

    • A Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field.
    • Current enrollment in a program pursuing counseling licensure.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
    • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.

    • Location: Houma, Louisiana.
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • This is an unpaid internship position.
    • The schedule is full-time with rolling start dates.
