About the role#
This is a 6 to 8 month co-op position based at our Innovation Center near Pittsburgh. You will work in a laboratory environment, handling projects with limited supervision. The role requires some travel, between 5% and 10%, to pick up samples, visit operations, or assist with customer trials.
What you'll do#
- Perform sampling, preparation, and testing of lime, limestone, raw materials, and associated products.
- Construct and perform scientific experiments safely.
- Write accurate technical reports based on your laboratory findings.
- Maintain housekeeping standards in the lab and sample preparation areas.
- Ensure all work meets regulatory requirements for chemical disposal and proper PPE usage.
- Operate analytical instruments and transition between different lab settings as projects require.
What you'll need#
- Full-time enrollment in a bachelor's degree program for Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong math and organizational skills, with the ability to read and interpret technical procedures.
- Ability to perform moderate to heavy physical work, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Capacity to work in a hot, dusty, and noisy environment while wearing required protective gear like respirators or dust masks.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines.
