About the role#
Citizens is seeking undergraduate interns for a 10-week summer program in 2027. This internship provides a dual experience where you split your time between a host team and a cross-functional project group. You will gain exposure to statistical modeling, machine learning, and advanced analytics while contributing to real-world banking initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with business partners and mentors to define project goals and identify data sources.
- Prepare data through attribute selection, exploratory data analysis, and transformation of temporal structures.
- Analyze structured and unstructured data to uncover patterns and actionable insights.
- Apply statistical techniques including hypothesis testing, model development, and validation.
- Conduct hands-on analysis using quantitative methods, text mining, and operational data techniques.
- Incorporate stakeholder feedback to refine models and approaches.
- Present findings and recommendations to peers and business leaders in a capstone presentation.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Economics, Analytics, or Computer Science.
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and Spring 2028 with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, Pandas, and Jupyter Notebooks.
- Experience with cloud computing environments like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Knowledge of statistical theory for creating sound models and analytic outputs.
- Ability to clean and process both raw and prepared datasets.
- Familiarity with tools such as Redshift, Snowflake, Amazon S3, and Amazon SageMaker.
- Strong analytical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and thrive in a collaborative team environment.
- Successful completion of a video interview assessment within 4 days of receiving the link.
Location & details#
- Locations: Columbus, OH; Johnston, RI; or Boston, MA.
- Modality: Hybrid.
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
- Note: This position requires permanent work authorization in the United States and does not provide visa sponsorship.
