About the role#
The AI Engineer Intern will assist in developing software systems using machine learning and deep learning to solve engineering and product problems. You will work within a Scrum team to refine existing products and drive new AI advancements. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Design, implement, and deploy software systems using classical machine learning techniques.
- Develop and integrate deep learning models into production software.
- Build data preprocessing, feature engineering, and augmentation pipelines.
- Optimize models for target hardware through quantization, pruning, and format conversion.
- Write, review, and document code using test-driven development.
- Create automated test environments, simulation frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Conduct manual and bench testing, and prepare builds for field deployment.
- Troubleshoot software, perform root-cause analysis, and resolve defects.
- Research algorithms, libraries, and third-party tools to make evidence-based recommendations.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to clarify technical requirements.
- Prepare and present technical reports and metrics to stakeholders.
- Participate in the continuous improvement of team tooling and engineering standards.
What you'll need#
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field (or a Bachelor's degree with equivalent experience).
- Proficiency in modern C++ (C++11/14/17 or later) with knowledge of memory management and concurrency.
- Programming experience in Python, specifically with the ML/scientific stack like NumPy, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or scikit-learn.
- Working understanding of machine learning and deep learning fundamentals.
- Experience with Git version control.
- Familiarity with software testing practices and CI/CD concepts.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.
