About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice while preparing for a future role as a Pharmacist. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will follow a training roadmap that covers pharmacy operations, including time spent with district leadership. You will assist the team in ensuring that pharmacy operations run safely and efficiently while providing caring service to patients.
What you'll do#
- Follow company standard operating procedures and pharmacy workflow for prescription fulfillment.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and contact them to clarify or facilitate medication changes.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as processing deliveries, cycle counts, and returns.
- Deliver patient health care services, including supporting immunizations where permissible by law.
- Educate patients on vaccines, monitor for adverse reactions, and document patient information.
- Contribute to a positive patient experience by showing empathy and genuine care.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by the state.
- 1+ years of related experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and travel to other store locations within the market.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to complete immunization certification.
- Strong communication skills, including active listening and mathematical reasoning.
- Physical ability to remain upright for extended periods, reach, stoop, and lift up to 20 lbs.
