About the role#
Dee Zee is hiring an IT Operations Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This position runs from June 1 through September 3, 2027, with start and end dates flexible based on your availability. You will work on-site in Des Moines to support our daily technology needs and gain hands-on experience with hardware, software, and networking. This role involves occasional work in production areas where you may encounter dust, noise, and varying temperatures.
What you'll do#
- Respond to user inquiries through phone, email, and our work order system.
- Install and configure computers, printers, and other devices under supervision.
- Troubleshoot routine hardware and software issues, escalating complex problems to IT Support Technicians.
- Support users with printing issues, including laser and label printers.
- Assist with network cabling tasks such as running, labeling, and terminating cables.
- Perform simple fixes like installing updates and replacing peripherals.
- Update and maintain documentation and knowledge base articles.
- Track inventory and organize equipment.
- Support the IT team with projects and process improvements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Foundational knowledge of Windows Desktop Operating Systems.
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP and general networking concepts.
- Basic understanding of user profiles and login behavior.
- A strong customer service mindset and clear communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions, document your work, and stay organized.
- An interest in PC hardware, such as building or repairing desktops.
- Exposure to a manufacturing environment is a plus.
