About the role#
Diamondback Energy is hiring a Geoscience Intern for the summer of 2027. You will work on an individual project while collaborating with geoscientists and engineers. This role involves subsurface characterization, target identification, and appraisal drilling evaluation. You will present your completed project to the executive team at the end of the summer.
What you'll do#
- Complete an individual geoscience project under the guidance of an experienced mentor.
- Evaluate upside potential on company-leased assets to identify economic inventory.
- Support basin-wide technical assessments including stratigraphic, structural, geochemical, geomechanical, and sedimentological work.
- Participate in on-site field visits to observe drilling rigs and completions spreads.
- Engage in intern events and community projects in the Midland-Odessa area.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor's degree or higher in Geosciences, Geology, or a related discipline.
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to return to school for the Fall 2027 semester.
- Willingness to work on-site in Midland, Texas, for the 12-week duration.
- Preference is given to those pursuing a master's degree or higher, those with a GPA of 3.20 or above, and candidates with prior work or extracurricular experience.

- This is a paid, full-time internship based in Midland, Texas.
- The term runs for approximately 12 weeks from May through August 2027.
- This position is on-site and does not offer sponsorship.
