About the role#
This summer internship supports the Grid Resiliency and Underground team at Dominion Energy. You will gain hands-on experience with electric utility operations and data-driven tools designed to improve distribution grid visibility, reliability, and operational decision-making.
What you'll do#
- Learn the reliability analysis platform and related systems.
- Document system interfaces, data flows, and business processes.
- Review existing workflows to find opportunities for standardization and improvement.
- Validate incoming data and perform quality checks to ensure consistency.
- Investigate data anomalies by working with engineering, IT, and business stakeholders.
- Build reports and dashboards to track integration and data quality metrics.
- Test system functionalities, integrations, and enhancements.
- Present your findings and recommendations to the project team.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an undergraduate or master’s degree program in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- A cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Status as a rising sophomore or junior with an anticipated graduation date of May 2028 or later.
- A valid driver's license.
- Solid understanding of engineering principles and the ability to apply academic theories to industrial problems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with data analytics tools, with experience in SQL, Python, or Power BI considered a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, follow procedures, and work with professional ethics.
