About the role#
The Substation Equipment Monitoring Group designs, procures, and installs monitors on electrical equipment like transformers, circuit breakers, generators, and control house batteries. This internship provides hands-on experience with equipment monitors including dissolved gas analyzers, infrared cameras, and power quality monitors. You will support a team initiative to provide analysis tools that offer insight into equipment operations and help prevent failures.
What you'll do#
- Assist Substation Operations Technical Specialists with daily routine tasks.
- Develop familiarity with substation one-lines and control design prints.
- Support new monitor installations, including verifying internal and external wiring to monitor enclosures.
- Update and maintain software databases.
- Create webpages for new monitor installations.
- Resolve loss of communication alarms.
- Terminate fiber optic cable and punch down ethernet cable.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- Graduation date of Spring 2028 or later.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Problem-solving skills with mechanical or electrical equipment and control circuits.
- Computer aptitude and experience with software applications.
- Familiarity with operating and handling power tools.
- Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively in verbal and written forms.
- Time management and organizational skills.

- Compensation: $23.00 - $34.00 per hour.
