About the role#
Duquesne University is hiring a GEI Tutor to support international students at the Global English Institute. This role helps students navigate language, culture, and society in the United States. You will receive training in English language tutoring. This is a paid, part-time position requiring up to 15 hours per week during the Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 terms.
What you'll do#
- Provide one-on-one tutoring for students who are referred by instructors or seek help on their own.
- Assist in classrooms by acting as a conversation partner or helping with exercises for skills development.
- Maintain tutorial records and communicate with instructors regarding student progress.
- Help plan and attend GEI events.
- Handle general office tasks, including creating the weekly newsletter and managing social media posts.
- Attend required orientation, training, and meetings.
What you'll need#
- Strong English language skills with a focus on writing.
- Superior grades at Duquesne University.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including patience and cultural sensitivity.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms.
- Good organizational skills for record keeping.
- Interest in areas such as English, Communications, Psychology, or Business Administration.

- This role is based on-site in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
- This position requires Federal Work-Study eligibility.
