About the role#
Lab aides support the operation of general physics labs at Duquesne University. You will report directly to the lab instructor and work behind the scenes to keep lab sessions running smoothly. This role does not involve face-to-face time with students. The position requires a commitment of 11 to 15 hours per week, and you may not hold additional employment at the university while in this role.
What you'll do#
- Set up lab tables according to the schedule and check that all equipment is in good working order.
- Grade lab reports based on the instructor's rubric.
- Assist with lab duties such as inventory and testing.
- Help proctor exams for the department of physics.
- Provide support during lab finals week.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a 300-level or higher physics course.
- Completion of two semesters of calculus-based physics with an in-person lab component.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and dependability.
- Good communication and hands-on skills.
