About the role#
As a Tools Programmer Intern, you will join the Build Operations team to build internal technology for Fortnite, Unreal Engine, and other products. You will focus on improving how our teams write software, test features, and deliver updates. This role is about increasing the effectiveness of our development teams through automation, analytics, and better user experience flows.
What you'll do#
- Create and improve platforms and tools used by developers at Epic.
- Build and improve workflows for Unreal Editor, Unreal Editor for Fortnite, and Fortnite.
- Write functional and unit tests to ensure the quality of released tools.
- Instrument telemetry to visualize and report on tool usage through data transformation.
- Collaborate with engineering and content creation teams to solve technical challenges that impact the stability and quality of game development.
What you'll need#
- Experience working on game features or technology using C#.
- Familiarity with C++ or a willingness to learn it.
- Experience with UX and GUI frameworks.
- Comfort managing agentic workflows and AI-assisted coding.
- A passion for maximizing developer efficiency and product quality.
- Interest in game engines and concepts like scripting, data processing, exporters, packaging, and deployment.
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, or Industrial Engineering.
