About the role#
As a Geology Intern at Fervo Energy, you will support our geological modeling and operations workstreams. You will own a project scoped with your manager on your first day and drive it for the duration of your internship. You will work alongside our teams to advance geothermal energy development and present your findings to our executive leadership team and department leads at the end of your term.
What you'll do#
- Analyze subsurface datasets, including well logs, seismic and microseismic data, and pressure data, to inform acreage development strategy and operational decisions.
- Participate in active drilling and completions operations at the Cape Station development.
- Build technical skills in geoscience applications such as Petrel and LeapFrog.
- Provide recommendations to the broader team to influence future development strategies.
- Compile analogue and digital geological and geophysical datasets to inform three-dimensional conceptual models of geothermal reservoirs.
What you'll need#
- Current status as a rising senior, a Master's candidate graduating within the next year, or a PhD candidate.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort presenting to stakeholders and leadership.
- Ability to work independently.
- Willingness and ability to collaborate in a remote working environment.
- Experience working with geothermal or oil and gas data, including well logs and geophysical data, is preferred.
- Experience reviewing well lithology logs, such as mudlogs or stratigraphic columns, is preferred.
- Experience in structural or stratigraphic mapping on a basin-wide scale is preferred.
- Experience with operations or fieldwork is preferred.
