About the role#
This internship offers an opportunity to work within the Body Center of General Motors manufacturing operations. You will contribute to the development of manufacturing processes, equipment, and workflows used to produce vehicles. This role is based on-site at either the Manufacturing Engineering headquarters in Warren, Michigan, or at various plant locations across the United States.
What you'll do#
- Develop and validate manufacturing processes and the sequence of operations.
- Evaluate ergonomic and human factors within manufacturing workflows.
- Collaborate with suppliers to select materials for the paint shop.
- Evaluate weld quality and joining techniques.
- Develop additive manufacturing processes and solutions.
- Support the implementation of new technology in welding systems.
- Work on projects related to polymer injection molding, process improvements, and energy reduction.
What you'll need#
- Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or Civil Engineering.
- Graduation date between December 2027 and June 2029.
- Ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week, during the summer of 2027.
- Willingness to work in a plant environment and work any shift, including weekends.
