About the role#
GMi offers a paid, full-time internship program for students interested in commercial construction. You will work on-site to gain practical experience in field operations, project management, and estimating. This role provides exposure to the daily realities of the construction industry and helps build a foundation for a long-term career.
What you'll do#
- Work alongside experienced professionals to gain hands-on field experience.
- Assist with jobsite activities including layout, framing, and drywall installation.
- Support field leadership with safety inspections, material coordination, quality control, and documentation.
- Help project managers with scheduling, budgeting, submittals, and project records.
- Participate in production planning, progress walks, and reporting.
- Learn to navigate construction documents and use estimating tools.
- Build professional relationships with office staff, field teams, vendors, and clients.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- A strong work ethic and the willingness to work in both office and field environments.
- A positive attitude and a genuine eagerness to learn.
- Strong organizational skills and self-motivation.
- The ability to work well within a team and communicate professionally.
- An interest in pursuing a career in commercial construction.
- Prior construction experience is helpful but not required.
