    About the role#

    The Safety Branch of the Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration is hiring an Information Technology Student. This role supports the branch by maintaining and managing data within the database management system. You will work with team members to organize key information and support inspection personnel.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist in maintaining and managing the branch database management system.
    • Help inspection personnel locate records within the database.
    • Create How To documentation for division work activities and data cleanup.
    • Learn surplus system procedures and guide others through these processes.
    • Work independently to complete tasks.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a post-secondary co-op program.
    • Completion of the first year in a recognized Information Technology program, with a preference for database administration.
    • Eligibility to complete a co-op work term as part of your academic program.
    • Understanding of the IT field and a strong background in research.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
    • Experience with Cognos, Tableau, SQL, or Microsoft Power Automate is an asset.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

    • Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia.
    • Term: Fall 2026 (September 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026).
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • Employment Type: Full-time, paid student position.
