About the role#
Join Southern FS as an Agronomy Intern for the Summer of 2027. This role provides hands-on experience in crop production, field scouting, and precision agriculture. You will work directly with agronomy professionals to support farmer-member customers and complete a capstone project as part of the GROWMARK Internship Program.
What you'll do#
- Support agronomy operations and assist professionals in serving customers.
- Conduct field scouting to monitor crop health and collect data.
- Help with agronomy trials, plot work, field demonstrations, and research projects.
- Operate precision agriculture tools for data collection.
- Manage product inventory, including ordering and receiving tasks.
- Participate in grower events and travel to various locations to build industry relationships.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a degree or certification program in agriculture at a community college, technical college, or university.
- Genuine interest in agronomy and crop production.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
- Comfort working in various weather conditions and at elevated heights.
- Willingness to travel, including occasional overnight trips.
Location & details#
- Location: Marion, Illinois.
- Term: Summer 2027, with a minimum 12-week commitment starting by May 24, 2027.
- Status: Full-time and paid position.
- Requirements: Attendance at three specific internship events in May, June, and August 2027 is required.
