About the role#
Hatch is building its inaugural Government Relations practice. This is a chance to join a team at its inception and help shape how the company engages with policymakers and industry stakeholders. As a Government Relations Student, you will report to the Director of Government Relations and support global offices from our Mississauga location. You will gain exposure to advocacy approaches and help build a new function within an engineering and consulting organization.
What you'll do#
- Monitor and analyze legislative, policy, and regulatory changes.
- Prepare briefing notes, reports, and presentations for leadership.
- Support the development of advocacy strategies and campaigns.
- Coordinate meetings with government officials and industry associations.
- Consolidate and track information from diverse sources into a centralized database.
- Plan and execute events, including logistics and follow-up activities.
- Maintain compliance with lobbying and disclosure requirements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree program in Political Science, Public Policy, History, International Affairs, Economics, Law, Business, Communications, or a related field.
- Strong foundational knowledge of Canadian politics.
- Working knowledge of Excel and data management tools.
- Interest in CRM systems and database management.
- Foundational understanding of macroeconomic concepts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous relevant coursework or experience is an asset.
- Bilingualism in English and French is an asset.
