About the role#
Heidelberg Materials offers a paid, full-time internship for students interested in quarry operations. You will receive hands-on training and mentorship from professionals while working on projects that support our mineral production. This is a rolling term position based in Irving, Texas.
What you'll do#
- Participate in quarry operations, including safety, equipment evaluation, and process optimization.
- Develop short, medium, and long-term mine plans, such as pit shell designs, stripping plans, and reclamation plans.
- Create life-of-mine plans that include phased development schedules and cost inputs.
- Prepare geological models and estimate resources and reserves.
- Provide volume calculations and design parameters for capital and acquisition projects.
- Work with regional management, geologists, and engineers to evaluate mineral quality and quantity.
- Ensure all mine plans follow safety standards, company objectives, and regulatory requirements.
What you'll need#
- Current Junior or Senior status pursuing a BS in Mining, Civil Engineering, or Geology.
- Experience with Carlson, AutoCAD, or other mining and geological software.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, build professional relationships, and think strategically.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
- Initiative and adaptability when faced with new tasks.
- A commitment to safety, sustainability, and customer-focused performance.
- Authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
