About the role#
This is an unpaid internship through the DoD SkillBridge Program designed for transitioning active-duty military personnel. You will train as a Hull Master Tradesperson at HII Mission Technologies, reporting to a designated supervisor. The program runs for four months and focuses on building skills through hands-on projects, mentorship, and collaboration with senior leadership. This role is intended to help you gain real-world experience and prepare for a potential transition into a full-time position.
What you'll do#
- Train on meaningful projects while working alongside a mentor and senior leadership.
- Develop the ability to analyze problems, design solutions, fabricate products, and test them based on feedback.
- Operate, configure, and maintain hull equipment.
- Perform fabrication and testing of AFFF systems, water-tight or air-tight doors, hatches, and scuttles.
- Troubleshoot and train sailors on damage control closures, valve and pump repair, and overhaul.
- Read blueprints and research technical manuals.
- Complete assigned special projects as required.
What you'll need#
- Must be active-duty military within your final 180 days of service to participate.
- Applications are accepted within the final 12 months of active-duty service.
- Must possess a Confidential or higher security clearance.
- Ability to work on-site during core business hours for critical meetings and training.
