About the role#
HII is offering a Corporate Legal Internship for the summer of 2027. This position is based in Newport News, Virginia. You will gain experience in the daily functions of an in-house counsel at a publicly traded company. This is a full-time role requiring a 40-hour work week for a minimum of 10 weeks.
What you'll do#
- Attend law department staff meetings.
- Review Teaming Agreements and Nondisclosure Agreements.
- Draft letters and other necessary legal documents.
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda.
- Attend meetings with various business units.
- Participate in meetings with outside counsel.
- Complete additional assignments as requested.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Juris Doctorate program at an accredited law school.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Status as a continuing student in a Juris Doctorate program for the fall term following the internship.
- Interest or coursework in government contracting, commercial contracts, labor and employment, intellectual property, corporate law, compliance, litigation, or in-house practice.
