About the role#
The Software Engineering Intern will support the HMH engineering team in the development, testing, and deployment of software applications for drilling and industrial control platforms. This internship provides hands-on experience in a collaborative, agile environment. You will work alongside experienced engineers to apply your classroom knowledge to real-world industry problems.
What you'll do#
- Assist senior software engineers with the design, development, and testing of application features and internal tools.
- Write, review, and debug code under the guidance of experienced engineers.
- Develop and execute unit and integration tests to validate functionality and improve code quality.
- Assist with documentation of technical designs, test results, and manuals.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and manage assigned backlog tasks.
- Troubleshoot software issues reported by internal users, QA, or field teams.
- Collaborate with electrical, controls, and hardware engineers on cross-functional projects and lab testing.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Graduate degree program in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Preference for degrees from an ABET-accredited university.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Proficiency in Python, Angular, or JavaScript is preferred.
- Familiarity with relational databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently or within a larger team.
