About the role#
Hudson Institute is seeking interns to support research on human rights and national security challenges in Asia. This role focuses on human rights violations in China, North Korea, and Southeast Asia, including the ongoing Uyghur genocide and crimes against humanity. Interns will work directly with scholars to discuss these issues and gain experience in public policy. You will have the opportunity to assist with and attend public events at the institute.
What you'll do#
- Conduct substantive research for reports and articles.
- Co-author op-eds and draft portions of reports.
- Assist scholars with research projects and presentations.
- Edit and research articles, reports, and briefing papers.
- Keep the team updated on current events.
- Attend meetings and network with scholars in the field.
- Provide administrative support and assist with event coordination.
What you'll need#
- Current student or recent graduate in political science, international relations, human rights, security studies, history, or related fields.
- Demonstrated interest in human rights and the politics of human rights in Asia.
- Strong research, writing, editing, and analysis skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently and manage time to meet deadlines.
- Detail-focused, reliable, and professional demeanor.
- Ability to work a minimum of 15-20 hours per week.

- Location: Washington, District of Columbia.
- Modality: On-site.
- Term: Fall 2026 (August 24 to December 4).
- Compensation: This is an unpaid volunteer position.
