About the role#
The Center for Defense Concepts and Technology at Hudson Institute offers a research internship for the Fall 2026 term. Interns focus on future warfare dynamics and military decision-making through wargames, models, and simulations. You will work directly with experts to discuss critical defense issues and participate in public and intern-specific events. This position provides a $3,000 stipend for the three-month term.
What you'll do#
Responsibilities vary based on specific project needs and include:
- Provide front-end web-based application development.
- Model and simulate the performance of new classes of space weapons.
- Develop tools for use in wargames with U.S. and allied participants.
- Prepare materials for wargames.
- Assess trends in the People's Liberation Army.
- Assist with administrative support tasks.
What you'll need#
We accept applications from recent graduates or current students in computer science, political science, aerospace engineering, physics, international relations, or related fields. You should have a demonstrated interest in U.S. security and defense strategy.
Required skills include:
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong research, writing, editing, and analysis capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Reliability and professional communication skills.
Additional skills in math, programming, astrophysics, orbital mechanics, or foreign languages like Mandarin or Japanese are beneficial.
Location & details#
This is a full-time, on-site position based in Washington, DC. You must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week. Remote work is not available for this role.
