About the role#
Humber River Health is hiring Student Nurse Externs for the In Centre Dialysis department. This is a temporary part-time role that involves providing direct personal support to patients. You will work under the supervision of Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses. This position does not involve performing regulated acts like medication administration or clinical assessments.
What you'll do#
- Provide basic care and assist with activities of daily living for up to 10 patients, including bathing, toileting, and feeding.
- Document activities of daily living, such as intake and output.
- Communicate relevant information regarding the patients you support.
- Report clinical concerns immediately to your direct supervisor.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in years 2-4 of a nursing program.
- Valid CPR certification.
- Ability to provide basic assistive care with supervision.
- Completion of mandatory training modules, including privacy, WHMIS, fire safety, and hand hygiene.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada (Wilson Site).
- Schedule: Rotating shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends (8 or 12-hour shifts).
- Employment type: Temporary part-time, ending March 31, 2027.
- Compensation: Paid position.
