    About the role#

    Humber River Health is hiring a Student Nurse Extern for the Critical Care 6 West unit. This is a temporary, part-time position that runs through March 31, 2027. You will work 12-hour shifts covering days, evenings, nights, and weekends at the Wilson Site.

    What you'll do#

    As a Student Nurse Extern, you provide direct personal support to patients. You will assist up to six patients with basic activities of daily living, including bathing, toileting, and feeding. You will document these activities and communicate relevant information to the team. You work under the supervision of Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses. You must report any clinical concerns to your supervisor immediately. Please note that this role does not include performing regulated acts such as medication administration or clinical assessments.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment in years 2-4 of a nursing program.
    • Current CPR certification.
    • Ability to provide basic assistive care with supervision.
    • Understanding of technology use.
    • Mandatory completion of hospital training modules, including privacy, WHMIS, fire safety, and hand hygiene.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
