About the role#
We are looking for a Compiler Research and Development Intern to join our team for the Fall 2027 term. You will support the co-design of next-generation Intel CPU and GPU architectures by focusing on compiler innovation for AI and machine learning models. You will work directly with experienced engineers to integrate compilers and runtimes across the hardware-software stack.
What you'll do#
- Collect and analyze performance data for AI models on Intel CPUs and GPUs.
- Contribute to software and hardware features that improve AI model and workload performance.
- Evaluate how specific optimizations impact hardware design.
- Collaborate with the team to support the co-design of future CPU and GPU architectures.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field.
- You have 2-3 years of hands-on experience in domain skills, or you are a Master's student with no prior professional experience.
- Proficiency in C and C++ programming.
- A solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and compiler construction concepts.
- Knowledge of modern CPU and GPU architecture, including memory systems.
- Experience with parallel programming models such as OpenMP, CUDA, or SYCL.
- Preferred: Experience building compiler components with the LLVM framework, kernel programming, and optimizing AI models using PyTorch for large language models.
- Ability to debug complex technical problems and propose solutions.

- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- The role is remote, based in Canada.
