About the role#
This is a summer internship based in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. You will work on-site at our mill to gain practical experience in the wood products industry. This position is a full-time role for the summer of 2027. You will work alongside experienced professionals to support maintenance and quality control processes.
What you'll do#
- Support equipment reliability, maintenance planning, troubleshooting, and mechanical process improvements.
- Complete quality-control surveys and collect operational or Key Performance Indicator data across the mill.
- Analyze production, process, or equipment information to identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and cost performance.
- Assist with documentation, reporting, benchmarks, and site improvement projects.
- Work with employees, crews, and site leaders on the mill floor and in the office.
What you'll need#
- Currently working toward a degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Wood Products Processing, Forestry Operations Management, or a related program.
- A commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to organize and interpret data to solve problems.
- Mechanical aptitude or manufacturing experience is an asset.
- Ability to work in a mill environment that includes noise, changing temperatures, stairs, ladders, catwalks, and uneven surfaces.
