About the role#
This is a Maintenance Engineering Student position at Irving Wallboard for the Winter 2027 term. You will work in a manufacturing environment to support process improvement, data analysis, and technical problem-solving. This role involves working alongside engineers, production teams, and quality personnel to optimize operations. You will receive mentorship and gain exposure to engineering projects.
What you'll do#
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Collect and analyze production data to support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Support trials and experiments on the production floor, including documentation and reporting.
- Develop and update standard operating procedures, work instructions, and process documentation.
- Participate in cross-functional teams focused on continuous improvement and lean manufacturing.
- Assist with equipment troubleshooting and process optimization.
- Contribute to sustainability and waste reduction initiatives.
- Support KPI reporting by gathering data, updating dashboards, and analyzing trends to drive performance improvements.
- Present findings and recommendations to engineering and operations teams.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Process Engineering.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with data analysis tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Previous co-op or internship experience in a manufacturing setting is an asset.
