About the role#
The Finger Lakes Toy Library is seeking two work-study students for the 2026-2027 academic year. We offer two distinct paths: an administrative role focused on operations and marketing, and a front-facing role focused on community engagement and event support. These positions provide hands-on experience in nonprofit management, donor relations, and community outreach while supporting our mission to increase access to play and promote sustainability.
What you'll do#
Depending on your assigned role, your responsibilities will include:
- Assist the Director with inventory processing, which includes cleaning, photographing, and cataloging toys, games, and puzzles.
- Create and schedule social media content to share impact stories and promote events.
- Conduct research on prospective donors, grant opportunities, and sponsorship leads.
- Track membership data and analyze growth opportunities to measure program impact.
- Host Open Hours to welcome families and manage the circulation desk.
- Assist with the planning, packing, and hosting of community playtimes at various locations.
What you'll need#
- Detail-oriented approach with the ability to work independently.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Basic photography and digital editing abilities.
- Familiarity with tools like Canva and Google Suite.
- Previous experience in communications, fundraising, customer service, or childcare is a plus.
- Ability to maintain consistent attendance and reliability.

- Location: Ithaca, New York.
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Modality: On-site.
- Commitment: Hours are flexible, with roles requiring between 4 and 8 hours per week.
- Eligibility: This position is available only to students awarded Federal Work Study.
