About the role#
The Retail Dining Student Manager position is a leadership role within Ithaca College Dining Services. You will help keep retail unit operations running by leading shifts, supporting fellow student employees, and providing guest service. This role allows you to gain management experience while working around your class schedule. You will set the tone for the team by leading through example, staying organized, and stepping in wherever help is needed.
What you'll do#
- Lead unit operations alongside management by overseeing daily workflows and ensuring quality service.
- Assist management with routine administrative duties, including paperwork and operational checklists.
- Foster a positive, professional, and inclusive environment for the team.
- Complete opening and closing duties accurately.
- Train fellow student employees on retail standards and daily procedures.
- Anticipate operational needs and step in to support any station as required.
- Assign and adjust responsibilities during shifts based on current needs.
- Attend mandatory training sessions as scheduled by management.

- Previous leadership or customer service experience.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to stay organized and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Comfort taking direction from management while leading peers.
- Flexibility and dependability with scheduling.
- Willingness to learn all areas of unit operations.
Location & details#
- Location: Ithaca, New York.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Up to 3 shifts per week, with a 2-hour minimum per shift.
- Compensation: $16.30/hr.
