About the role#
This position supports the Ithaca College Makerspace and Digital Media Lab. You will help students, staff, and faculty with creative projects that range from academic assignments to personal hobbies. This role offers hands-on experience with a variety of creative tools in a collaborative environment.
What you'll do#
- Consult with users on their projects in the Makerspace and Digital Media Lab.
- Teach the operation of equipment including sewing machines, Cricut die-cutting, 3D printers, laser cutters, and hand-held power tools.
- Assist users with preparing digital files for cutting and printing.
- Manage equipment reservations and help users in the podcast studio, photo studio, and with virtual reality setups.
- Plan and lead workshops based on your interests and the needs of the lab.
- Maintain cleanliness and troubleshoot hardware or software issues on Mac and PC systems.
- Ensure all users follow safety protocols.

- Current enrollment as a student at Ithaca College.
- Ability to work independently and manage your tasks.
- Reliability and clear communication with coworkers and supervisors, including using Microsoft Teams.
- A commitment to following and enforcing lab safety rules.
- A willingness to learn new technologies and help others succeed.

- Location: Ithaca, New York.
- Term: Summer 2026.
- Modality: On-site.
- Pay: $16.00 per hour.
- Schedule: 8-12 hours per week, with shifts available Monday through Friday and Saturdays.
