About the role#
This position supports daily operations at Finger Lakes ReUse, a nonprofit organization focused on waste reduction and community support. You will work at one of two local centers to help manage donated goods and assist with retail activities. This is an entry level role designed for students to gain hands on experience in a community based environment.
What you'll do#
- Operate the cash register and assist customers.
- Accept donations from the public by receiving, cleaning, and pricing items.
- Load and unload vehicles with furniture, building materials, and other goods.
- Organize merchandise and create displays.
- Perform custodial tasks like sweeping and mopping.
- Work with coworkers, volunteers, and trainees to maintain operations.
What you'll need#
- You must be a student awarded Federal Work Study.
- The ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- A willingness to perform manual tasks and provide customer service.
Location & details#
- Locations: Downtown at 214 Elmira Rd or Uptown at 2309 N. Triphammer Rd in Ithaca, New York.
- Schedule: 5 to 18 hours weekly is preferred, with shifts available 7 days a week between 9:30 am and 8 pm.
- Modality: This is an on-site position.
