About the role#
Jabil is hiring a Manufacturing Engineering Co-op for a full-time position located in Elmira, New York. This role runs from January 4, 2027, to July 6, 2027. You will gain hands-on experience in medical device production while working alongside engineers, technicians, and production operators.
What you'll do#
- Complete web-based and instructor-led training on production processes.
- Gain experience with primary machining, including CNC milling, turning, and forming of titanium, stainless steel, and polymers.
- Design tooling, work holding, and job aids.
- Participate in quality and compliance activities, including failure mode analysis and scrap trending.
- Assist with capital investment projects and process transformations.
- Conduct research, collect data, and generate technical reports.
- Perform financial analysis and create business cases for presentations.
- Perform CAD modeling and drafting for manufacturing tools and equipment layouts.
- Support new process and equipment development for product launches.
- Coordinate validation lifecycle elements, including safety risk assessments and installation qualifications.
- Author standard operating procedures and test protocols.
- Analyze data using statistical methods and software.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to improve existing processes, including cycle time and capacity analysis.
- Implement Kaizen improvements and utilize Lean or 6 Sigma tools.
- Communicate with internal and external suppliers.
- Participate in plant familiarization and shadow various roles in departments like QA, maintenance, and shipping.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program.
- Preferred majors include Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Biomedical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is strongly preferred.
- Completion of sophomore-level coursework is strongly preferred.
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week).
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with CAD software and technical writing.
- Introductory experience with GD&T and statistical analysis tools like Minitab.
- Strong communication skills and a self-starter mindset.
- Reliable transportation to and from the work site.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
