About the role#
As a Substation Field Engineering Intern, you will support the technical operations and maintenance of substations. You will work alongside experienced engineers to oversee the repair, replacement, and modernization of equipment that powers our communities. This role provides exposure to substation design, testing, and field operations.
What you'll do#
- Support engineers in the execution of capital and maintenance projects.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
- Assist with troubleshooting equipment and evaluating corrective actions.
- Review test results to assess equipment condition and performance.
- Manage small-scope engineering projects from planning through completion.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABET accredited college or university.
- Pursuing a degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (Freshman or higher).
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow established standards.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly.

- Location: Amarillo, Texas.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Work Modality: Hybrid.
- Schedule: Full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours per week).
- Travel: Frequent day travel is required, with rare overnight travel for specific projects.
