About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support our pharmacy team in delivering quality care and service to our customers. This position involves direct interaction with patients, prescribers, and insurance providers to ensure accurate medication dispensing and efficient pharmacy operations. You will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to provide clinical services and maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment.
What you'll do#
- Create a welcoming experience for customers by answering product questions and providing drug counseling.
- Assist with over the counter medication recommendations.
- Input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy system.
- Dispense correct medications and bag prescriptions for customer pickup.
- Interpret oral and written prescriptions.
- Contact prescribers and insurance companies to resolve authorization or coverage issues.
- Provide immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Manage inventory by checking incoming orders, stocking shelves, and returning unused medication to stock.
- Maintain department cleanliness and quality assurance standards.
- Assist the department manager in meeting sales and profit goals.
- Report safety risks, accidents, or incidents to management immediately.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high-volume environment.
- Skill in managing conflict in a nonconfrontational and professional manner.
- Commitment to honesty and integrity when handling business and patient information.
- Ability to follow directions and ask for assistance when needed.
- Capacity to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
