About the role#
The Materials Science Division is hiring undergraduate interns for the Fall 2026 term. This program provides practical research experience for students interested in scientific fields like organic and inorganic synthesis, metallurgy, electrochemistry, and computational materials science. You will work under the supervision of laboratory scientists to support ongoing research projects.
What you'll do#
- Conduct hands-on research in a laboratory setting or perform computational work and data analysis.
- Gather and analyze information to support scientific research goals.
- Present your findings through formal presentations.
- Assist with other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
What you'll need#
- You must be a continuing undergraduate student in good standing at an accredited institution.
- Pursuing a degree in chemistry, materials science, physics, biology, computer science, environmental engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to apply basic engineering, scientific, or physics principles to solve technical problems.
- Experience using personal computers and familiarity with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Eligibility to access the laboratory in compliance with Section 3112 of the National Defense Authorization Act.

- This position is located in Livermore, California.
- The internship is a full-time, on-site role for the Fall 2026 term.
- This is a paid internship.
- Selected candidates must pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.
