About the role#
As a Summer Intern, you will join a multi-discipline team to create lighting solutions for interior and exterior spaces. You will work under the direct supervision of senior lighting designers on various projects. Your tasks include developing conceptual design direction, validating designs through computer visualizations and calculations, and preparing technical documentation. This role focuses on specific design and technical tasks that contribute to the success of our projects.
What you'll do#
- Design and specify project-appropriate lighting requirements.
- Perform Revit modeling and detailing.
- Coordinate designs with the work of other team members.
- Prepare narratives, reports, calculations, presentation renders, and specification documents.
- Conduct site investigations and observations.
- Participate in cross-discipline discussions and coordination.
- Attend internal and client meetings.
- Assist with construction contract administration and marketing activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Architectural Engineering degree program with a lighting emphasis.
- Proficiency with Revit MEP is preferred.
- Experience with 3D modeling, energy code analysis, or lighting simulation software is a plus. This includes tools like SketchUp, 3DS Max, Photoshop, InDesign, Rhino, Grasshopper, DIVA, Climate Studio, COMcheck, Iray, AGi32, LightStanza, or ElumTools.
- Strong graphic, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of other building systems.
- A positive attitude and a commitment to working as an active participant in a team.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in extracurricular or community activities are preferred.
