About the role#
This co-op position is based in the R&D process group within the Advanced Packaging and Integration Team. You will contribute to the development of Optical Circuit Switch technology, which supports cloud-scale and AI data center networks. This role involves working in a multidisciplinary environment, focusing on package assembly, integration, and sealing processes. You will collaborate with engineering teams across manufacturing, mechanical, and software disciplines.
What you'll do#
- Work with the engineering team to understand manufacturing process factors.
- Use Design of Experiments (DOE) to develop experimental plans.
- Improve and develop tools, jigs, and fixtures to increase product manufacturability.
- Analyze data to identify trends and the impact of key parameters on process quality.
- Keep organized records of experimental results, summaries, and standard documentation.
- Work in R&D lab and clean room environments using industrial machinery.
- Share progress and outcomes with stakeholders while providing regular reports.
- Develop creative ideas to improve existing processes.
- Participate in training and collaborate with team members on various projects.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled as a 3rd or 4th year student in a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution.
- Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong mechanical design skills with experience using SolidWorks or SolidEdge.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct and analyze experiments.
- Experience with problem-solving and lean manufacturing techniques.
- Familiarity with using and troubleshooting industrial machinery.
- High motivation and a strong desire to learn.
