About the role#
Mauldin & Jenkins is hiring for an Accounting Intern to join our team in Savannah. This is a full-time, paid internship with a rolling start date. You will work on-site, gaining experience in audits, management services, and tax return preparation.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the study and evaluation of internal accounting controls.
- Test compliance with internal controls.
- Prepare financial statements.
- Examine client reconciliations for bank and subsidiary accounts.
- Calculate accruals and document support.
- Prepare schedules for write-offs of prepaid expenses and deferred charges.
- Review data input and resolve tax issues.
- Assist in the review of tax preparations.
- Identify, research, and assess various tax issues.
- Meet deadlines for tax returns and other projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college degree program with a major in accounting.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and auditing standards.
- Working knowledge of federal and state income tax laws.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and speech.
- Professional appearance and conduct.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
