About the role#
Mauldin & Jenkins is hiring an Audit Accounting Intern for our Baton Rouge office. You will work on audit engagements, management services, and tax return preparation. This is a full-time, paid position that runs on a rolling basis.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the study and evaluation of internal accounting controls.
- Test compliance with internal controls.
- Prepare financial statements.
- Examine client reconciliations of bank accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Examine client reconciliations of subsidiary accounts to controls.
- Schedule computations of accruals.
- Prepare a schedule of write-offs of prepaid expenses and deferred charges.
- Review data input.
- Identify and resolve technical tax issues.
- Assist in the review of tax preparations.
- Research and assess various tax issues.
- Meet deadlines for the completion of tax returns and other projects.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a college degree with a major or concentration in accounting.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and auditing standards.
- Working knowledge of federal and state income tax laws and regulations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional appearance in attitude, dress, poise, and conduct.
- Ability to provide your own housing and transportation.

- Compensation: Paid position with overtime pay for hours worked beyond 40 per week.
