About the role#
Mauldin & Jenkins is hiring an Audit Accounting Intern for our Houston office. This role offers hands-on experience with audits, management services, and tax return preparation. You will work alongside our professional team to develop technical skills and gain exposure to accounting standards and tax regulations.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the study and evaluation of internal accounting controls.
- Test compliance with internal controls.
- Prepare financial statements following generally accepted accounting principles.
- Examine client reconciliations for bank and subsidiary accounts, investigating any discrepancies found.
- Compute accruals and document the underlying support.
- Prepare schedules for write-offs of prepaid expenses and deferred charges.
- Review data input and assist in the review of tax preparations.
- Identify, research, and assess tax issues while providing information to senior staff.
- Meet deadlines for tax returns and other assigned projects.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a college degree with a major or concentration in accounting.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- You must provide your own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship.
Location & details#
- Location: Houston, Texas.
- This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship with a rolling term.
- Overnight travel may be required.
- Overtime pay is provided at time and a half for hours worked beyond 40 per week.
